Tonight we’ll host two disparate and wholly outstanding talents. Navá returns with their fusion of two ancient musical cultures - Ireland and Persia, with threads of bluegrass, classical and more. In the words of fRoots magazine: “the fusion is real… Navá performs as four musicians accompanying and enhancing and allowing space for each other’s contribution.” They share the night with poet Stephen James Smith, perfectly described by Gerard Smyth: “… a poet whose sympathies lie with the addicted and the convicted, often responding to what he finds on life’s margins… his poems get their charge, as well as their shape and substance, from his use of demotic rhythms, the vividness of his vernacular and his emotional directness…”
