Classically-trained singer / pianist, Olivia Chaney, graduated from the Royal Academy of Music before teaching herself guitar and Indian harmonium. Carving out her own voice in London as a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, she delved back to the folk music that inspired many of her favourite musicians and composers. Olivia Chaney signed to Nonesuch Records in New York, joining idols such as Philip Glass, Joni Mitchell and Lorraine Hunt Lieberson. She has since released two full-length solo albums, a collaboration with Kronos Quartet, and a record with The Decemberists, which received a Grammy nomination. Her most recent solo album ‘Shelter’ has been described as 'A big, beautiful new record'– Mojo, a ‘finely wrought piece of work’ (Observer), and ‘a transcendent refuge from the storm.’ (Uncut).
