Kirsty will be delivering our weaving and embroidery course on Zoom starting no the 23rd of February.

We are very excited to have her join the Duncairn family and we’re sure her classes will be a total success. She wanted to introduce herself to all of you Duncairn people in advance of her classes:

Hey, my name is Kirsty McGuinness and I am a textile and community artist.  I am originally from a small town in Scotland, just outside Edinburgh, which claims Susan Boyle and Lewis Capaldi as residents!!

I married a Belfast man and we moved here 16 years ago, and Belfast is now very much home.  After suffering a small stroke in my late 20s, I retrained as an artist, something I have always wanted to do as I realised that life is too short not to follow your dreams…if you can!

I take everything with a pinch of salt and humour is the best medicine, which I try to bring to everything I do, especially in my own textile work.  As I was recuperating my mum got me a cross stitch kit to help with my hand coordination and from that day I was hooked.

I love to sit, watch TV and weave away the long days, you’ll never find me without a project on the go or some type of needle in my hand.
