Celebrating Debbie's award from Flax Trust

Our season of celebrations just got an extension!

We are absolutely delighted and proud to announce that our colleague Debbie Young has received the “Positive Change Through Creative Industries” award.

This award is one of the most significant recognitions within the North Belfast Community Leadership Awards 2024 celebration organised by Flax Trust. The Flax Trust is one of Ireland's largest and longest-established development trusts since 1977. The Flax Trust has promoted community reconciliation through economic development from the start. In recent years, it has broadened its focus to expand and energise the work of reconciliation through the arts, especially the performing arts, education, business incubation, entertainment, social action, sport and technology.

This award means the world to me, and indeed to my colleagues here at The Duncairn Centre for Culture and Arts.  I’m filled with pride because this award not only comes from the heart of the people, but more importantly, it is all about my north Belfast and the thriving community I live in.

Organisations such as The Flax Trust/Flax Arts Trust, have been successfully and untiringly working with, and for, the people of north Belfast through all complex layers of community needs for decades.  To be presented with this award that recognises the positive change that the Creative Industries can bring to our home and to our people is such an honour and it is received with great pride indeed.

From all the Arts Team: Congratulations Debbie!
