This is Where I Be

Wed 14th September - Fri 30th September
The Duncairn Exhibition Space 10am-4pm
Free Admission - No Registration Required

The Belfast Health & Social Care Trust Health Improvement Team and The Duncairn have, for the past 5 years, built a successful approach to collaboration in promoting and improving health, wellbeing and creativity in the heart of north Belfast, via Take 5 Steps to Wellbeing.

Our project, This is Where I Be, has shone through as a perfect example of how the arts, and health improvement, naturally intersect and complement one another beautifully, the result of which has been the creation of this truly amazing body of work.

The participants and the facilitating artist, Leah Davis, live in the local neighbourhoods of Deanby, Oldpark, Antrim Road and the Newlodge, and their sense of enjoyment and pride in being able to capture the essence and soul of the places they move, breathe, and live in, has been the most rewarding aspect of the project.

We are in a time when the use of creativity to support good mental health and wellbeing is of the utmost importance.

Every person, young and not so young, are facing difficult and challenging times.  This project was shaped to help demonstrate that with the simplest of tools, such as your mobile phone and freely accessible apps, there lies within each of us the ability and skill to engage and capture the moments of beauty around us.

The participants of This is Where I Be are delighted to present to you the beauty they see around their home.

If you think you know the narrative of North Belfast, think again.
