Oh, Listen to the Band!: Ireland’s Roaring ‘20s

Conor Caldwell (fiddle) and Ryan Molloy (piano) re-imagine Ireland’s jazz age in the company ofBen Castle (clarinet) and Cathal Ó Curráin (vocals/bouzouki). 

The arrival of jazz culture in the 1920s, spread by recordings, radio and through a wave of new cafés and dance halls, sent shock waves through Irish society. It was soon embraced by traditional musicians keen to please dancers demanding the Foxtrot in all areas of the country. Oh, Listen to the Band is a whirlwind journey through an often overlooked period in Ireland’s musical history.
