Here is the opportunity to catch two profound contemporary talents. Aisling Urwin is a harper and songwriter from South Kerry who seeks to use her instrument of choice in a way that challenges traditional preconceptions of what the harp should sound like. Looking at Irish traditional music as an ever evolving tradition, she combines the organic sounds of lever harp and natural vocals with rich electronic sounds and textures.
Also performing with her trio is singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Dani, the recent Artist In Residence at Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival. Rooted firmly in the contemporary Irish folk scene, with world music influences, her sound is inspired by the Irish traditional melodies and showbands she was raised with. “Wowing audiences with virtuoso guitar playing and highly individualistic self-penned songs.” Songlines Magazine
We are also delighted to welcome Dublin based poet Stephen James Smith who will perform a 20 minute set of his own work. Stephen has been central to the rise of the vibrant spoken word scene in Ireland today. To date, his poetry videos have amassed over 3 million views online.
